Historique de la ville de Castres

All of silver, with four red hatchings on the left side of the coat of arms, headed with blue containing three golden fleur-de-lis (France). Above it all is a steel trap.

Motto :

Borel, a writer from Castres, evokes how, at the end of the 16th Century “was added to the Castres coat of arms a steel trap, in memory of the many victories obtained using this instrument of war. The motto UPRIGHT was added because the said instrument can never fall without having a point which remains in an upright position, and to remind the men that they must always remain UPRIGHT when serving God and their King”
